Islamic Rulings on Purification & Worship

Course Objective 

Students will gain a foundational understanding of the principles and rulings that govern acts of worship in Islam, including purification, prayer, fasting, zakat, and Hajj, based on classical sources and scholarly interpretation.


Student Expectations

This course is taught through lecture-style format with the aid of slides to enhance comprehension. Students will engage with the material through weekly quizzes and unit exams to reinforce their understanding. Regular attendance is required with active participation.

Ustadh Mohamed Herbert

Ustādh Herbert, born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, completed his ḥifẓ at the Islamic Society of Baltimore at age 12. After college, he moved to Irving, Texas, to study Arabic and continued his education at Qalam Seminary, graduating from the ʿĀlimiyyah program in 2019. He then served as Youth Director and Imām in Tulsa, Oklahoma, before joining Legacy International Online High School, where he teaches Tafsīr, Fiqh, and Sīrah, while also overseeing curriculum development. He remains closely involved with Qalam Institute, teaching Qalam Travel programs and online courses.
